New Zealand Tea Tree is often used as a common name for the Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) plant which grows throughout New Zealand.

East Cape Manuka oil is a superior chemotype, proven in scientific studies to be the most effective of all Manuka and Tea Tree oils in controlling a wide range of gram positive bacteria and skin fungi.

Effectiveness is due to Triketone compounds present in the oil of East Cape Manuka plants which were found to be four to five times higher than in the oils of Manuka plants collected from other N.Z. locations.
